Almost always worth reading cover to cover, with the sort of insightful, expansive writing across politics, art, and culture that only occurs when the writer works beyond the bounds of takes and allows actual critical thought to develop. Leanne Shapton's art direction is just the right mix of enlivening, apt, and surprising (I enjoy her emails, under the NYR aegis, about the thinking behind the visuals for each issue.)
